Alex Yee Ladywell Arena to host Lewisham Inclusive Sports Festival
On Saturday 21st June the Alex Yee Ladywell Arena will host the annual Lewisham Inclusive Sports Festival.
In partnership with Access Sport who will be organising and leading the event on the day the Alex Yee Ladywell Arena will be offering a range of multi sports and activities between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 21st June 2025.
The Lewisham Inclusive Sports Festival will be the second activity arranged in the borough this year at the Alex Yee Ladywell Arena for children and young people with a disability. The first activity being a very successful multi-sport holiday camp held over the Easter Holidays in April. That camp was set up and organised by the Lewisham Disability Sports Network, this network consists of a range of groups and organisations from across the borough who work with children and young people with disabilities. The holiday camp over Easter was very successful and as are group we are looking to repeat subject to funding.
Within the Lewisham Disability Sports Network sits a core working group of Access Sport, Better, Disability Sports Coach, Lewisham Council, London Sport, Kaleidoscope Centre and South East London Tennis. With South East London Tennis being one of the key delivery partners not just in April but in June too.
The exact list of activities for Saturday 21st June are yet to be confirmed but, in the past, we have offered, Tennis, Rugby, Dance, Athletics, Football and Adaptive Cycling. Working in partnership with partners such as Roebucks, Trinity Laban, Wheels for Wellbeing and S-Factor Academy.
Access Sport is a national charity formed in 2004. They believe that no one should be excluded from the transformational benefits of community sport. The benefits they focus on are, Physical and mental health and well-being, Personal development (including life skills/ prospects), Sense of belonging and Community engagement.
