Facilities and services

Our facilities

Printing

Black and white and colour printing is available for a small fee. Print in A4 or A3 from our computers or your own laptop.

Study space

Whether you're studying or working, find desks, quiet areas and dedicated study spaces at Boston Library. 

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the library. You can log in on your phone, tablet or laptop. 

Parking

Boston Library is adjacent to the County Hall public car park. Please note that charges do apply.

Local Studies

We have a range of local studies resources for reference use covering the history of Boston and the surrounding area. Our collection includes:
  • Books: A large collection of publications covering the history of Boston and its immediate area; notable titles include Thompson’s History & Antiquities of Boston.
  • Directories: Titles such as Kellys and Whites covering a variety of years from 1826-1939.
  • Newspapers on Microfilm: Boston Guardian 1854-1958, Lincolnshire Standard (Boston Edition) 1912-2019 (incomplete). A Microfilm Reader Printer is available to use. To book the Reader or check whether the year you want is available, please contact the team direct. 
  • Newspaper cuttings: Covering subjects such as local places, firms, industries, transport, planning proposals, shopping schemes dating from the 1980s.
  • Maps: OS scales covering Boston and the surrounding area between 1824 and 1969. 
  • Illustrations: A selection of photographs of Boston and the surrounding area, the majority dating from 1900s onwards. 
  • Ephemera: An eclectic mix including ‘Village Packs’ for Boston and the surrounding villages covering a variety of years from the 1900s to present.
