Wantage Leisure Centre Hosts Third Menopause Evening
Wantage Leisure Centre Hosts Third Menopause Evening
On Friday, 28th March, Wantage Leisure Centre held its third menopause evening of the year, following a successful launch event on World Menopause Day in October 2024.
The evening featured a fitness class taster session, a guest speaker, and refreshments, providing a safe and supportive space for open discussions on menopause. Over 20 women attended, representing a mix of pre-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause stages.
Fitness Instructor Fin led a chair-based aerobics session, offering a full-body workout incorporating resistance bands and weights. This class provided an accessible yet challenging way to stay active.
The guest speaker, Rebecca Lisi, a local mental health psychotherapist, delivered an insightful talk, covering key emotional and psychological aspects of menopause. She also guided the group through the Triangle Breathing exercise, which many found beneficial for relaxation and stress management.
The evening concluded with refreshments and open discussions, where participants shared their experiences and recognized common symptoms. Since the first event in October, over 50 women have attended, with many returning each month. A strong support network has formed, with friendships extending beyond the sessions.
The next Menopause Evening will take place on Friday, 25th April. To book your space or learn more about Wantage Leisure Centre’s facilities, including Chair-Based Aerobics, visit https://bookings.better.org.uk/location/wantage-leisure-centre/fitness-classes
