Dementia Friendly Morning coming to Southbury.
The number of people in London with Dementia is increasing and it is estimated that over 12,500 people in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington (North Central London or NCL) currently live with the condition.
People living with Dementia can face challenges like memory loss, visual perception issues, restricted mobility and noise sensitivity, which can make everyday activities stressful.
In line with the senior offer across the partnership, Southbury Leisure Centre will be introducing a dementia friendly morning at Southbury Leisure Centre, hosting sessions within a quieter environment encouraging those with dementia, their carers or those at risk of Alzheimer’s or dementia to socialise, interact with others all whilst getting active and staying healthy!
Sessions will take place every Monday and include:
9.30am-10.30am - Dementia Friendly Senior swimming
10.45am-11.45am - Sporting Memories (Including Tea, Coffee & Refreshments) hosted by our partners Headway Sports.
12pm-1pm - Walking Football hosted by our partners Headway Sports.
Sessions start Monday 12th May 2025, with prices starting at £11.50 per day for non-members or £7.50 per day for those on a senior pay as you go membership. (Carers can access for free providing they attend with the person whom they are caring for.)
Bookings can be made via the Better UK app or website. For more information speak to a member of the team at Southbury.
