Terms and Conditions of Membership

Anyone can join Dudley libraries.
Adults (18 yrs and over) able to provide proof of name and address will be registered with full membership and will be able to take the full allocation of items. Those that cannot provide ID will be registered as a new borrower and will have their library card sent to their home address. Their library card status will be changed to full adult membership when they bring in the card on their next visit. Examples of such identification include driving licence, medical card, or a recent utilities bill. You must bring your library card with you when you want to borrow items from the library or access the computers.

Adults with full membership

May borrow up to 35 items in total from these categories: · 20 adult books including talking books · 15 children’s books including talking books · 10 CDs · 5 DVDs or videos · May use a library computer free of charge, for up to 4 hours, subject to availability. . Computer sessions may be booked in advance using your library card. · If you have a wireless enabled device, you can access the Dudley Connect Wi-Fi in all Dudley libraries and Library Links.

1. You must bring your library ticket with you when you want to borrow items from the library or access the computers.
2. Books and talking books are issued for 4 weeks, CDs for 2 weeks, DVDs and videos for 2 weeks. There is a hire charge for CDs, DVDs and videos (see Library fees and charges). Any item may be renewed, if not required by other borrowers, in person at any of Dudley’s libraries, or by phone or on the internet (www.dudley.gov.uk/ libraries).
3. Books, talking books and CDs may be renewed by phone or on the internet up to 12 times. After 12 renewals the item must be brought into a library to be renewed by library staff, if no one else has reserved it.
4. DVDs and videos may be renewed up to 12 times by telephone or on the internet. After 3 renewals the item must be brought into a library to be renewed by library staff, if no one else has reserved it. A hire charge applies to renew CDs, DVDs and videos.
5. Items may be renewed in person at any of Dudley’s libraries, by phone or on the internet (www.dudley.gov.uk/ libraries).
6. You may reserve items which are out on loan or not in stock. A charge may be made for obtaining books which are not in stock in Dudley Libraries (see Library fees and charges). We are unable to supply DVDs and CDs that are currently not in stock in Dudley Libraries.
7. Charges apply on overdue items at the rate currently in force (see Library fees and charges). There are no charges on overdue items to adults aged 65 years and over. Adults who incur charges in excess of £5 will be prevented from borrowing items or using a computer.
8. You should let us know immediately if your library card is lost or stolen, or if there are any changes in your contact details. A charge may be made for replacement library cards (see Library fees and charges).
9. You are responsible for any items on loan on your library card, and may be charged for any loss or damage.

New Adult Borrowers · May borrow: · 3 books or talking books · 1 CD or DVD · May use a library computer with restricted internet access, free of charge, for up to 4 hours, subject to availability. · Free internet access if you have a wireless enabled device. See Adults with full membership section above.



Young People aged 13 – 18 years

· May borrow: · 35 books or talking books from the adult or children’s libraries · 10 CDs · 5 DVDs or videos subject to age restriction · May use a library computer free of charge, for up to 4 hours, subject to availability. Computer sessions may be booked in advance using your library card. · Free internet access if you have a wireless enabled device.

· May borrow 20 books or talking books from the children’s library · May use a library computer free of charge, for up to 4 hours, subject to availability. You can book a computer session in advance using your library card. · Free internet access if you have a wireless enabled device.
