Junior Gym
Junior gym is a dedicated session for 11-17 year olds. The session allows them to start their fitness journey in a safe environment that’s fun & effective, whilst improving their health & wellbeing.
All juniors are required to have a junior gym induction before being allowed into the gym.
Tuesdays-Friday: 3.15pm - 5.45pm
Weekends: 12.00pm - 3.00pm
(Times vary in school holidays)
Gym Induction
Before attending their first junior gym session, all juniors must book and attend a junior gym induction. These inductions are conducted by our Fitness Instructors who hold a level 2 qualification, and are conducted in small groups of up to four people. The inductions last 30 minutes and cover all health and safety information pertaining to the gym. Our Instructors will also explain gym etiquette, demonstrate the equipment that juniors are permitted to use during the sessions, and instruct on how to use it safely.
Adult and Child Gym Sessions
For our adult and junior gym, the junior needs to book rather than the adult. All juniors are required to undertake an induction before admittance.
The sessions will be chargable for the junior (unless pre-paid member) and the adult either needs to be a pre-paid member or book and pay for a gym session.
These sessions are for 11-17 year old.
The adult is required to actively supervise the junior if they are aged 11-15 years old.
Keeping your kids safe
Mandatory inductions – To keep everyone safe, members and non members can attend our junior gym sessions without an adult. Before, they must take part in one of our induction sessions so they can learn how to use the facilities. Juniors will not be allowed to access the gym without having taken an induction.
Equipment restrictions – So everyone can workout within their limits, we have some age restrictions on our gym equipment. Junior members between 11 and 15 years can use cardiovascular and fixed resistance machines such as treadmills, chest press machines etc. but only 16 and 17 year olds can use the free weights.
Juniors will have access to the majority of gym equipment including:
Cardio machines (treadmills, cross-trainers, upright bikes, spin bikes, recumbent bikes and rowing machines)
Resistance machines* (chest press, chest fly, lateral row, cables pulley machines, leg press, hip adductor, hip abductor, lat pull down, shoulder press, leg extension, hamstring curl).
Functional Area* (TRX ropes, kettle bells, bosu balls, skipping ropes, steps, slam balls, battle rope, plyo boxes, small free weights)
Juniors are not able to access the free weights area. *Juniors are required to use the lightest weight plates when using the resistance machines. The assisted chin-up machine should not be used by Juniors.
