Link Centre is turning 40 this April
On Saturday 26th April, Link Centre will be hosting some activities for just £3.00 to celebrate its 40th year of operating. Sessions will be available to book online from two weeks before the day and include ice skating, swimming, soft play and trampoline park. These will be bookable in the normal ways - either at the front desk or online via the website or Better UK app. There will also be a wide range of other organisations present on the day to promote other local services.
Since its opening in 1985, the Centre has been a cornerstone of local life, promoting physical fitness and fostering a sense of community through a wide array of activities and services.
With a wide range of facilities, including a swimming pool, ice rink, and gym, the Link Centre has provided residents of all ages with the opportunity to stay active, healthy, and engaged. Over the years, it has helped thousands of Swindon residents improve their physical health, whether through swimming lessons, fitness classes, or simply enjoying a recreational swim or skate.
The Centre has also played a pivotal role in teaching vital life skills, with its swimming programmes having taught thousands of children to swim. These lessons not only equip children with essential skills but also give them confidence and promote water safety. The ice rink has similarly seen countless children and adults learn to ice skate, offering fun and skill-building for everyone from beginners to experienced skaters.
Additionally, the Link Centre is proud to be the home of the Swindon Wildcats, the town's ice hockey team. As the team's base, the Centre supports local talent and brings exciting sports entertainment to the community, further enhancing the Centre's role as a hub for sport and recreation in Swindon.
As the Link Centre celebrates its 40th anniversary, it stands as a testament to the power of sports and physical activity in shaping a healthy, vibrant community. Here’s to many more years of service to Swindon!
