To mark Carers UK's 60th anniversary, Tadworth Leisure Centre is partnering with the charity to offer carers free and discounted access to fitness facilities during ‘Active April’ from 1 April to 4 May 2025.

Throughout this period, Carers UK members and those receiving Carer’s Allowance can access Better leisure centres at a discounted rate of £30 per month. This membership includes access to the gym, swimming pool, and fitness classes. In addition, Tadworth Leisure Centre will provide free refreshments and gym sessions every Monday from 1400 to 1530, allowing carers to experience the benefits of exercise in a supportive environment.

The initiative aims to highlight the importance of physical activity for carers. Research shows that 67% of unpaid carers feel more connected to others when they stay active.

GLL Chief Executive Peter Bundey emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting carers, stating, “We recognise the vital role that carers play in their communities and want to help improve their health and well-being through this initiative.”

Carers UK Chief Executive Helen Walker welcomed the partnership, encouraging carers to take advantage of these opportunities to improve their well-being, reduce stress, and connect with others.
