Leytonstone Leisure Centre Unveils £2.5m Refurbishment
Leytonstone Leisure Centre has officially unveiled a major £2.5 million refurbishment aimed at enhancing the experience for visitors while making the facility more energy-efficient. The extensive work, which was completed over the last 15 months, includes a brand-new roof equipped with solar panels, designed to reduce the building’s energy consumption.
Inside the centre, the transformation is equally impressive. The reception area has been redesigned for a modern, welcoming feel, and a new meeting room has been added to accommodate community groups and activities. Families with young children will notice the refreshed soft play area, with updated equipment ensuring a safe and engaging environment. The gym also received an upgrade, including the addition of energy-saving LED lighting to create a brighter, more vibrant space.
The swimming pool area also benefited from significant improvements during the Christmas and New Year period. Key upgrades included the replacement of pool pumps, a refresh of aesthetic features like pool inlets and outlets, and the renewal of grouting throughout both pools, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable swimming experience.
Daniel O’Connor, GLL Partnership Manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the overhaul, stating: “Leytonstone Leisure Centre has had a major upgrade, and we are delighted with the results. The new energy-efficient features, along with the improved facilities, reflect our commitment to providing a top-tier experience for the community.”
The £2.5m refurbishment is part of an ongoing effort to modernise public leisure facilities across the area, making them more sustainable and better suited to the needs of local residents. With these latest enhancements, Leytonstone Leisure Centre is set to remain a cornerstone of the community for years to come.
