WELCOME TO OUR SWIMMING LESSONS

Learning to swim is a valuable life skill for all ages.

At Wimbledon Leisure Centre & Spa, we can provide a variety of lessons for all abilities through our fully qualified swimming teachers.

Here are a few things to know before your first lesson:

  • We have male & female changing rooms available with one accessible change.
  • Lockers are available and are currently 20p non-refundable
  • We have a viewing gallery at both the shallow and deep end with a monitor to the teaching pool available on the deep end gallery.
  • For our Foundation and Development lessons, children are required to wear a coloured swim swimming hat. This will be provided by your siwmming tecaher on your first lesson.

SWIMBiES

Swimbies lessons are designed for under 4 years, where parent/guardian will be in the water with their little ones. This gives you an opportunity to spend quality time together, learning important life skills and gaining confidence in the water.

Our Swimbies classes are 30 minutes per week and are split into 4 age groups:

Dippers 3-12months

Splashers 13-24months

Paddlers 2-3 years

Pre-school 3-5 years

Foundation Lessons - 4 years +

These lessons are designed for children 4 years and over who are beginners or non-swimmers. 

We have 3 levels in foundation - Red, Amber and Green. They are designed to introduce, develop and master water confidence, essential swimming skills and stroke development techniques.

By the end of this course, your child will be able to swim 10 meters unaided learning the basics of all 4 swimming strokes. 

Our foundation lessons run on the following days/times:

Monday to Thursdays from 3:45pm to 6:15pm

Saturday 8:15am to 12:15pm

Development Lessons - 5 years +

Our development lessons are for children who can swim over 15m in multiple strokes and are confident in deep water.

Development is split into 3 levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Hats are required to be worn and will be provided in the first lesson. The lessons are 30 minutes long and improve techniques of all strokes, teaching more advanced skills and water safety.

Our development lessons run as follows:

Monday to Thursday 4pm to 5.30pm

Saturday 9am to 12pm

Academy Lessons

Academy classes will help your child develop further and work towards achieving their own personal goals in the pool.

We want to encourage your children to become confident independent swimmers. So, Academy classes are a lot more focused on self-led progression and advanced safety techniques. 

These lessons are 45 minutes and cover all skills learnt in previous levels, as well as introducing other aquatic pathways out of our swimming programme. These include diving, water polo and Lifesaving.

Our academy lessons run as follows:

Monday to Wednesday 6:05pm

Adult Swimming Lessons

Our Adult Swimming Lessons are designed for those who want to improve their swimming ability.

We run two programmes - Adult Swimming Lessons and Adult Swimming Coaching

Adult Swimming Lessons are designed for beginners or non-swimmers.

Adult Swimming Coaching is designed for fitness and technique improvement.

So come and learn with our resident Swim Doctor who will be on hand to provide expert advice for just £3 members and £10 non-members per session.

Our Adult Swimming lessons run as follows:

Mondays 7pm and 7.45pm

Wednesdays 11am

Fridays 11am
