What is Junior Gym?

Junior gym is a dedicated session for young people between 11 and 17 years old to them to help them begin or maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. All sessions are supervised, with a member of the Fitness Team present, to ensure they are working out safely.

Membership also includes access to our Junior Fitness Classes that take place on the gym floor during the allocated sessions.

Keeping everyone fit, active and healthy is important to us, so we want to ensure we offer a variety of fun activities. Sessions are included in the monthly membership or can be booked on a pay-as-you-go basis.

All juniors are required to attend Junior Gym Induction before their first session.

Junior Gym induction

Before attending their first junior gym session, all juniors must book and attend a junior gym induction. These inductions are conducted by our Fitness Instructors who hold a level 2 qualification, and are conducted in small groups of up to five people. The inductions last 30 minutes and cover all health and safety information pertaining to the gym. Our Instructors will also explain gym etiquette, demonstrate the equipment that juniors are permitted to use during the sessions, and instruct on how to use it safely.

Junior Gym Classes

 

Junior fitness classes take place during the Junior gym sessions and are tailored to junior participants. These short 20-30 minute fitness classes are led by our level 2 qualified Fitness Instructors and take place on the gym floor during the afternoon junior gym times. Fitness classes will include:

Cardio Fitness - Get your heart pumping and increase your energy levels in one of our Junior Cardio classes.  These classes are fast-paced with high energy activities which could include HIIT and Step Aerobics in one class

Adult & Junior Gym

Calling all gym members with children! Would you like to bring along your child to train with you in the gym for free? Our 'Adult and Junior Gym' sessions allow any pre-paid adult to bring a child to the gym with them for free.

The reservation must be made by the adult who books the 'Adult and Junior Gym session with their membership. Juniors do not need to book the session but must be supervised and accompanied by an adult at all times.

Session Days & Times: Sundays, 03:30pm – 06:00pm.

*Supervision: Please note that the adult/parent must actively supervise the child at all times and takes responsibility for the child's conduct and safe use of machines. Only children between 9-17yrs are permitted in the session, and it is limited to one child per one supervising adult. If an adult is not supervising the child or the child misuses the gym equipment or misbehaves, both parties may be asked to leave.

Junior Gym Rules

Monday - Friday, we have 4 bookable slots; 4:00pm, 4:20pm, 4:40pm & 5:00pm.

Saturday & Sundays we have 2 bookable slots; 12:00noon & 12:50pm

Juniors are required to vacate the gym when the sessions finish and are not able to stay between sessions. 

Juniors will have access to the majority of gym equipment including:

  • Cardio machines (treadmills, cross-trainers, upright bikes, spin bikes, recumbent bikes, & rowing machines) 
  • Resistance machines* (chest press, chest fly, lateral row, cables pulley machines, leg press, hip adductor, hip abductor, lat pull down, shoulder press, leg extension, hamstring curl, & assisted chin-up) 
  • Functional Area* (TRX ropes, kettle bells, bosu balls, skipping ropes, steps, slam balls, battle rope, plyo boxes, small free weights) 

Juniors are not able to access the free weights area. *Juniors are required to use the lightest weight plates when using the resistance machines, as well as under 10kg dumbbells in the functional area. 

Junior Racquets

Racquet sports are included in your junior membership. A daily racquets benefit is able to be applied to entitle you to a free court per day.
