We are delighted to announce that the tennis centre's very own Lily Mills has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019.

The Special Olympic World Games are for individuals with intellectual Disabilities.

Lily, who has learning difficulties, contracted meningitis when she was just 4 days old and spent much of her first few months in Great Ormond Street Hospital. She is now one of the top young players in the country with learning difficulties and has won 25 gold and silver medals at regional and national LD tournaments as well as competing in able tennis tournaments.

To get Lily to the Special Olympic World Games her mother, Tallulah, and everyone at the tennis centre would appreciate donations no matter how small to help her with training, equipment and travel.

"We're incredibly proud of everything Lily has achieved already in her tennis career. It is great for Islington Tennis Centre and Gym to have such an inspirational person playing here and we are determined to help her realise her dream of competing at the Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi next year," said Tennis Manager, Joachim Treasurer.
