Better Launches ‘Active April’ to Support Local Carers

To mark the 60th anniversary of Carers UK, Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub is partnering with the charity to offer carers discounted access to fitness facilities during ‘Active April’ from 1st April to 4th May 2025.

Throughout this period, Carers UK members and those receiving Carer’s Allowance can access Better leisure centres at a discounted rate of £30 per month. This membership includes access to the gym, swimming pool, fitness classes.

Throughout April there is an opportunity for carers to use the gym for free on Tuesdays 11am-12pm, please book at reception or email gunnersbury@gll.org

The initiative aims to highlight the importance of physical activity for carers, with research showing that 67% of unpaid carers feel more connected to others when they stay active.

GLL Chief Executive Peter Bundey emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting carers, stating, “We recognise the vital role that carers play in their communities and want to help improve their health and well-being through this initiative.”

Carers UK Chief Executive Helen Walker welcomed the partnership, encouraging carers to take advantage of these opportunities to improve their well-being, reduce stress, and connect with others.
