Why choose Better Community Nursery at Burnt Oak?
Your brand-new, purpose-built community nursery is located within Barnet Burnt Oak Leisure Centre, right at the heart of your community.
Combining our leisure centre facilities with the expertise of qualified and highly trained staff, we will be supporting children in these crucial early stages through enhanced learning with a physical focus. We’ve devised a specialised programme that helps children quickly develop coordination, fine motor skills, balance and concentration. From riding a bike, to dancing and playing football, your brand new community nursery will create an exciting early years experience, through physical play. By teaching children physical skills, we will help them unlock their fullest potential.
All of this will be underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage to help get your child school ready. Each area of learning and development will be implemented through planned, purposeful play and fully underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS).
*Free places for 2 year olds and 3 year olds.
What makes us different?
Better Community nurseries will be embedding best practice in line with the government’s guidelines for children under five to improve the following key areas in children’s health, using two key impact areas in our daily practice;
• Enhanced physical activity and Wellbeing
• Healthy Weight and Nutrition
Enhanced Physical Activity and Wellbeing
How much physical activity children under five years old need to do to keep healthy is high on our agenda. This agenda reflects a growing awareness that early life experiences impact upon future health outcomes and draw on notable recent advances in the science of physical activity and health for children under five years old. The recommended 180 minutes (3 hours) for pre-school children will include active play and more energetic activities, both indoors and outdoors such as running, swimming, learning to ride a bike, dancing, gymnastics and toddler sports activities. These activities will be spread throughout the day to encourage the development of their precious hearts and lungs.
Healthy Weight and Nutrition
We will be meeting all the governments’ dietary recommendations by providing drinks and freshly cooked food, sometimes home grown in our garden to meet all nutritional requirements supporting and promoting healthy eating and snacks. This will include allergen awareness and catering for special dietary needs.
