Hire a tennis court or book a class

How to hire or book:

To hire an indoor or outdoor tennis court, or book a place on one of our pay and play classes, you will need a free online account.

​After you've created your account then you can log in and book:

  • Log in here or follow the link in your confirmation email to book your session
  • Select Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre from the drop down menu then select your activity and your preferred time slot
  • On the next page - select court area, class or price level (adult, junior, concession) and your preferred time slot then add to your basket. If you'd like to book more than one court please click 'Add to basket' and then click 'Continue shopping' and repeat the step above
  • Continue the process of answering the relevant questions. If you're not already logged in on the basket summary page please log in and it will populate your details for you, you can then proceed to pay
  • Make sure you read Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre Terms and Conditions
  • Check activity prices here and hire a court or book a class using the links below.
  • Please note when entering your name and address details please omit any hyphens or special characters. When entering your payment details please ensure your details exactly match your banking details associated with your payment card otherwise your booking/payment will fail.
  • Remember! The person who made the booking must be present for the entire session.

Tennis Court Hire

Our courts are available to book seven days a week for friends, families and colleagues to play together.

We have four acrylic indoor courts which are great for match play and available to hire during weekday daytimes and weekend evenings. Our six all weather, porous macadam courts are available to hire during all opening hours.

Bookings open online five days in advance. 

Essential information:

  • Players should arrive changed, wearing comfortable sports clothing and non marking trainers or tennis shoes.
  • Only our licensed coaches can teach tennis lessons on our courts. People coaching without this license will be asked to leave.

Adult Match Play

Have fun at these sessions which are perfect for intermediate or advanced players aged 16+ years. Please make sure your level of play is suitable to the match play session you would like to attend. Book online and join the fun.
Session availability:  Please note, bookings open online 6 days in advance, so these sessions won't be visible online to book until then.

Indoor Match Play

Price: £18 per session

  • Adult Intermediate Indoor on Fridays at 20:00-22:00

Outdoor Match Play 

Price: £8 per session

  • Adult Intermediate Outdoors on Tuesdays at 20:00-21:00 
  • Adult Advanced Outdoors on Tuesdays at 21:00-22:00

Cardio Tennis

Price: £10.50 per session

Improve your fitness levels and burn up to 600 calories with Cardio Tennis sessions at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. They’re the new, fun, high energy workout which takes place on the court.

Cardio Tennis sessions are a great activity with drills to give players of all abilities the ultimate, high energy workout. Each session includes a warm up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. It’s the perfect way to get in shape and burn calories!

There are drills for beginners through to advanced players, all of which provide you with a great cardio workout while improving skill. 

Cardio Tennis can be a unique and fun form of exercise that reaps many benefits:

  • You'll consistently elevate your heart rate into your aerobic training zone
  • It’s much more fun than working out on a machine!
  • Sessions involve short bursts of high intensity workouts and periods of rest, almost like interval training, which burns more calories
  • It’s a fun group activity where players of all abilities can enjoy tennis together
  • If you haven’t played for a while, or don’t know who to play locally, it can be a great way to get back into tennis and meet new people
  • Even though you’re playing tennis, the focus is primarily on getting a great workout
  • You'll naturally improve your game because you hit so many balls and repeat various shots
  • Sessions can take place indoors or outdoors

Additional Information

  • Social and Cardio sessions are run on a weekly basis
  • Players should arrive changed, wearing comfortable sports clothing and non marking trainers or tennis shoes
  • We recommend that players arrive at least 15 minutes before so that they are ready for the start of the session
  • Tennis racquets are free to borrow for customers on our courses, Social and Cardio sessions
  • Tennis racquets can be hired for £5 per hour for customers hiring a tennis court
  • Balls are available to purchase

Wet Weather Policy 

  • Our all-weather porous macadam courts are designed for year round use, and can be played on in light rain
  • In the case of severe weather - very heavy rain, puddles of standing water, hail, storms, etc - the centre will close the courts and customers will get an automatic credit on their account. Unless there is a weather warning in place, we make the decision at the start time of the booking
  • The decision is based on conditions at the centre at the time – this may be different to those customers are experiencing at home, and can change hour by hour
  • If it is raining but the courts are still playable, customers who decide not to attend will not get a credit
