We aim to create a fun safe environment to skate and have fun with family and friends.
Everyone wishing to take part will be able to hire skates, a safety check will need to be completed for customers with their own equipment, if their equipment is deemed unsafe for our venue; they will need to use ours.
PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS:
We highly recommend that you do not take part in skating activity if you suffer from high blood pressure, heart, back, or neck problems, brittle bones, joint injuries or any other condition that could be aggravated by this activity, or if you are or suspect you might be pregnant.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK:
By engaging in our roller disco, Skaters and Spectators are deemed to have knowledge of and not limited to the following:
- Injuries that result from collisions or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on rink.
- Injuries that result from falls.
- Skaters and Spectators are responsible for the identification of risk which they may be exposed too.
- As with all sports roller skating can be dangerous and has the inherent risk of injury. Protective gear is not provided by the centre but participants can provide their own. If you choose not to use pads and wrist protectors then Whitehaven Sports Centre will not be liable for any injuries.
- Everyone has an obligation to ensure the health and safety of themselves and all others. Particular consideration should be given to the state of the surface and keeping it free from liquids, food and other items which will contribute to falls.
- Skaters at all times skate at their own risk and assume the inherent risk of skating
SAFETY OBLIGATION:
- You will be required to remove skates if you wish to purchase drinks/food or leave the arena area. Any drinks and food must be consumed outside of the skating area.
- For safety reasons you will be required to remove skates if you wish to use the toilets
- You must not push or trip other skaters and any behaviour deemed dangerous to our guests or staff will be dealt with accordingly.
- No guests will be allowed to skate if they are wearing unsuitable attire.
- You must not chew gum or use mobile phones whilst skating.
- Whitehaven Sports Centre reserves the right to refuse entry and or remove any guest behaving to the detriment of others safety.
- Please maintain a reasonable speed and course at all times.
- Read and abide by all posted signs and warning and co-operate with the rink staff.
- Maintain a proper lookout to avoid other skaters
- Accept responsibility for knowing the range of your ability while on skates and skate within the limits.
REFRAIN FROM THE FOLLOWING ACTS:
- Skating while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other controlled substances.
- Acting in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury to yourself or any other person.
- Throwing or leaving objects on the rink surface.
- Instigating or becoming involved in any type of altercations with any other skater or spectator.
- Engaging in abusive, abrasive or disorderly conduct.
