10p Swim Initiative Returns to The Sands Centre This Easter
Families in Cumberland will have the perfect opportunity to make a splash this February half term as The Sands Centre offers 10p swimming sessions daily between 10am-10:50am from Monday 7th to Thursday 17th April 2025. This initiative, delivered by Better, the UK’s largest operator of public leisure facilities, in partnership with Cumberland Council, ensures that swimming remains accessible to everyone, reinforcing Better’s commitment as a not-for-profit social enterprise.
The 10p swim scheme is designed to encourage children and families to stay active, socialise, and have fun in a safe environment. Swimming is not just an enjoyable pastime—it is a vital life skill and a proven way to boost physical and mental well-being. Regular swimming helps improve heart health, strengthens muscles, and reduces stress. It also promotes confidence, water safety awareness, and social interaction, making it a fantastic activity for all ages.
At Better, we take great pride in offering initiatives like this, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation. As a social enterprise, all revenue is reinvested into improving leisure facilities, services, and programmes that benefit the local community.
This scheme highlights the true impact of a not-for-profit model, where affordability, inclusivity, and community well-being come first.
“We are delighted to be bringing back the 10p swim this half term,” said a spokesperson from The Sands Centre. “This initiative ensures that every child has the opportunity to enjoy swimming, stay active, and have fun—regardless of background or financial situation.”
Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity! Simply visit The Sands Centre between 7th and 18th April to take advantage of this incredible offer. The Iniative excludes bank holidays and weekends.
