ESCAPE-pain is a group rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain that are referred to the programme by their GP. ESCAPE-pain integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen that’s individualised for each participant.
The programme helps people to understand their condition, teaches them simple things they can help themselves with, and takes them through a progressive exercise programme so they learn how to cope with pain better.
ESCAPE-pain offers two programmes
1. ESCAPE-pain for knees and hips: Designed to benefit people with chronic knee or hip pain, otherwise known as osteoarthritis (OA).
2. ESCAPE-pain for backs: designed to benefit people with chronic low back pain
Escapee Circuit Class
Continuing on from the success of our ESCAPE-pain programme at Eastern we offer an Escapee Circuit Class with no referral necessary. This circuit delivers low impact and low intensity exercise in a fun and very social group setting with strength, mobility, balance, co-ordination as a primary focus. Escapee Circuits is open to everyone and offers an ideal exit route to those leaving the ESCAPE-pain programme and the National Exercise Referral Scheme
Health Wise
Health Wise is a comprehensive 6-week programme delivered by our National Exercise Referral Instructor (NERS) and features one-to-one assessments, tailored activity plans, and teaches how to change behaviours for lasting impact. The programme is only accessible through a referral from your GP or other Health Professional.
Health Wise - Exercise Referral Scheme
Physical activity plays an essential role in preventing and managing a wide range of health conditions. That's why we at Eastern host and support the National Exercise Referral Scheme.
Health professionals refer patients to these low-cost programmes to help improve, manage or prevent health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, depression and many more.
Our affordable exercise referral courses are designed to help participants develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to improve their health and wellbeing.
Health Wise - Cardiac rehabilitation scheme
Our Cardiac rehabilitation programme is designed for those who may have had a cardiac event and have been referred either from their GP or from a Phase 3 team at the local hospital. The programme safely explores the benefits of physical activity and provides individuals with the tools to develop the lifestyle behaviours needed for a smother recovery, including heathy eating habits and stress management techniques.
This programme is built upon the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Standards.
Kim is Eastern’s Health Wise Cardiac rehabilitation specialist and members should attend Health Wise sessions applicable to them and their condition.
