Odd Down Sports Ground welcomes Try Games this June
On Sunday 3rd June 2018, the Bath community are invited to Better, Odd Down Sports Ground for The Try Games, an inclusive festival of games to raise funds for Three Ways School. People of all abilities can try a wide variety of inclusive sports, take part in a fun run, and witness a world-record attempt at running on custard!
The event is being supported by a wide range of wonderful local sports clubs, coaches and activities leaders from in and around Bath. All participants will try at least three activities they may not have had the opportunity to access before, be it running on custard or wheelchair basketball. The committee are aiming for this to be an event that brings the whole community together, have fun and appreciate each other’s skills and talents.
Sir Chris Hoy, Olympic Gold Medalist supports the event saying ‘'The Try Games demonstrates the great power of sport- it’s inclusive, brings people together and nothing is off limits. Everyone has a sporting ability, but they often lack access to facilities or don’t realise the great variety of sports available. There is a sport out there for everyone, for all abilities and the Try Games is a fantastic opportunity to bring communities together to try new activities’
Three Ways School is a Special Needs Academy in Bath offering a unique, stimulating learning environment to pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities aged from 3 to 19. All the fundraising from the Try Games will go towards sports clubs and equipment for the school.
The event will have lots of sports to choose from – including football, martial arts, Crossfit, cycling, athletics – as well as the opportunity to witness a world record attempt at running on custard– so that everybody, whatever their ability or prowess, has a chance to try something new and appreciate what others are really capable of.
Ciara Davies, organiser of the Try Games says ‘ As a parent of a child at Three Ways and another in mainstream school it is amazing for our community to have the opportunity to access each other’s worlds, for my daughter to try sensory play or have a go on adapted cycles and for my son to have a go at being bounced on the trampoline or pushed at full speed around a fun run. The Try Games hopes to open the community to more collaborative sports and give a little window into new sporting activities.’

About Three Ways School
Three Ways School is a Special Needs Academy in Bath and NE Somerset offering a unique, stimulating learning environment to pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities aged 3-19.
The students receive personalised care and support throughout the school day but it is extremely hard for them to access mainstream clubs and activities in the community. We want these students access to new experiences, to developing passions and hobbies, to being part of a team and giving parents and carers much-needed after-school care and respite.
After school clubs costs £30,000 a year to run three clubs per day throughout term time, and any help towards this means we are able to offer more opportunities for the young people.
