How are we supporting refugees resettling in England and Wales
Better leisure centres, gyms, pools and sports facilities across England and Wales are offering Better Health Centre (Off-Peak) memberships to refugees for a fixed six-month period. For Northern Ireland, visit our dedicated page for details on supported memberships in Belfast.
Who is eligible?
This scheme is available to refugees granted settlement status in the UK within the last 12 months.
How does it work?
We've made the application process simple:
- Refugees can apply directly.
- Family hosts, charities (e.g., RESET, Red Cross, Refugee Council), or our staff can apply on someone's behalf.
- Applicants must upload proof of eligibility (Residence Permit with Refugee Settlement status).

Membership details
- Adults (16+ years): Better Health Centre (Off-Peak) membership, including gym, fitness classes, sports facilities, and swimming.
- Children (11-17 years): Better Health Centre Junior membership, covering junior gym, fitness classes, and swimming.
Memberships last six months and are completely free.
