4.1 GLL needs to process most of your personal data in order to process your application to volunteer with us. In some cases, GLL needs to process some of the personal data to ensure that we are meeting our duty of care. For example, we may need to check that you are entitled to work in the UK.
4.2 GLL processes other elements of personal data because we have a legitimate interest in ensuring that volunteers are suitable for the role they wish to undertake. For example we process data about volunteer’s skills and experience to ensure we consider the best candidates for roles.
4.3 There is also a substantial public interest that permits the processing of certain personal data. An example is monitoring for the purposes of equality of opportunity and treatment. This data is not used to take action or make decisions about individuals. You are free to decide whether or not to provide the information and there are no consequences if you choose not to do so.
4.4 For some volunteer roles, GLL is obliged to seek information about criminal convictions and offences. Where GLL seeks this information, we do so because it is necessary for us to carry out our duty of care or contractual obligation in relation to the recruitment of volunteers.
4.5 By registering with the volunteer management system on our website we understand that you are actively soliciting contact from GLL about volunteer opportunities which match your field of interest. GLL will not use your data for any purpose other than the recruitment process, contact with you regarding the volunteering you are undertaking e.g. changes to session times, dates or any other relevant information and monitoring purposes such as recording of the number of volunteer hours undertaken. If you no longer to wish to remain on our volunteer management system then you can you can end your registration by going to your personal profile, going to the Close Account tab and following the steps to close your registration.
