Encourage your child to develop healthy exercise habits early by enrolling them in a Junior Gym membership at Kendal Leisure Centre, tailored for children aged 11 to 17. Sessions are offered after school, on weekends, and during school holidays. A staff member is always present on the gym floor during these sessions to ensure a safe and enjoyable workout experience for all junior members.
Junior Gym Induction
To ensure the safety of all our junior members, we require a Junior Gym Induction led by a certified fitness instructor. During this session, they will be taught how to properly use the equipment and perform exercises. All juniors must complete this induction before attending their first Junior Gym session.
The instructor will guide you on which equipment can be used and how to safely train on the machines during the induction. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Please attend in suitable gym clothing and trainers, as you’ll be using the equipment. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Bags are not allowed in the gym, so please store your belongings in a locker (available in the changing room and corridor).
Junior Gym
The Junior Gym programme is tailored for young people aged 11 to 17, offering dedicated timeslots for their workout sessions. Junior members aged 11 to 15 have access to cardiovascular and fixed resistance equipment, including treadmills and chest press machines, while those aged 16 and 17 can also use free weights. Participation requires pre-booking. A qualified fitness instructor will oversee each session, providing guidance, supervision, and answering any questions.

- Monday - Friday 3pm to 5.30pm (term time)
- Monday - Friday 11am to 5.30pm (school holidays)
- Saturday & Sunday 9.30am to 12pm
Adult and Junior Gym
Families can enjoy our Adult and Junior Gym sessions, offering a fantastic opportunity to exercise together and strengthen bonds. To encourage physical activity among younger participants, the accompanying adult is encouraged to actively supervise and engage with the junior during the session, creating a supportive and interactive experience rather than following instructor-led guidance.

- Saturday & Sunday 1pm - 3pm
- Monday - Friday during school holidays
Group Cycle
Our Group Cycle classes are high-intensity workouts held on stationary bikes, blending cardio and endurance in a 30-minute, calorie-burning session, all set to an energetic and motivational soundtrack. These classes are open to both adults and juniors. Please note that all participants, including adults and juniors, must book in advance. As space is limited, be sure to reserve your spot early to secure your place.
