Lee Valley Tennis Team Triumphs in Essex League Season
The Lee Valley Tennis Team has concluded another dynamic season in the Essex League, marking significant achievements across numerous divisions. With a blend of victories, near misses but above all notable progress, the team's performance this season highlights their dedication and commitment to a sport we all love.
Men’s First Team: Champions again
The men's first team had set their sights on clinching the Essex First Division title for the third consecutive year, and they delivered with precision. Dominating their matches, they secured the championship and earned a spot in the regional county playoffs for which an official September date is still yet to be confirmed. The team is hopeful about drawing a home tie this time around with loftier aims to advance to the South East Regional League.
Men’s Second Team: A challenging season
In contrast, the men's second team faced a challenging season in Division 3. With injuries and player availability issues, they managed only one win out of five matches, finishing second from the bottom. Despite their best efforts, luck was not on their side and they look forward to regrouping and coming back stronger next season.
Men’s Third Team: Surpassing expectations
The men’s third team entered the season with a modest goal: to win a team match. Surpassing expectations, they secured two wins, two draws, and only one loss in Division 4. Their impressive performance nearly earned them a promotion, a testament to their hard work and regular training sessions over the winter. This marks a significant turnaround from their previous two winless seasons.
Ladies Team: A season of consistency and success
The ladies team aimed to fulfil all their fixtures this season, and they did so with flying colours. Not only did they field a full team in every match, but they also celebrated a victory against West Ham Park. Even in losses, they achieved individual match wins, showcasing their determination and growth since the previous season, which they had to forfeit due to a lack of players.
A season to celebrate
Overall, this season signals a positive shift and will be one to remember for Lee Valley Tennis, with the majority of teams meeting or even exceeding their goals. With a third Essex title in hand, there's a new flag to be added to a trophy cabinet , symbolising the continued success, progress and commitment to excellence.
