TRACK CLOSURES FOR JANUARY 2025
- More info »

Lee Valley Athletics Centre is gearing up to host a very special event, the first ever Minithon sponsored by B&M, led by no other than double Olympic and multi world champion, Sir Mo Farah.

This event marks the beginning of what Sir Mo Farah hopes will be a series of inspiring athletic events across the country - starting off at Lee Valley Athletics Centre on Saturday 14 September 2024.

The long distance runner is keen to give back to the sport and children in particular by keeping them active and helping them fall in love with athletics.

What better opportunity than to receive advice from such an experienced runner that competed at the highest level for such a long period of time and who knows it could lead your children on their own personal journey.

Children will  be allowed to enter up to three events of their choice on the day including a mixture of track and field - all while competing for medal, gifts and so much more.

Events

Please note, events available on the day vary depending on age group:

  • Under 13's
  • Under 11's
  • Under 9's

Entries are via the Opentrack website, click here to enter.

The event will be hosted by announcers Peter Scott and Donald Brown. Nicky Wright, will return as the chief track judge, bringing her wealth of experience to the event. A UKA Level One Permit has been secured, ensuring that most of the events (except for the turbo javelin), will be officially recognised by the Power of 10, the national ranking website.

Entertainment

As exciting as it is to watch the kids race, if you’re a parent who’s keen to hit the track then this is your chance to race against a pro! Parents will be able to take on Sir Mo Farah and see how they fare against an Olympic legend.

Kids will also be able to sit down for Q&A with Mo Farah at the end of the day to soak up some of his professional experience and knowledge. And, of course, get a signed autograph from one of the biggest Olympic athletes Team GB has produced.
