As part of our commitment to spending money on improving your facilities. Better has improved the look and feel of both the Gym and Group Cycle Studio at The Sands Centre and investing in some new equipment.

The aim of the lighting in the Gym is to differentiate between the various zones of the gym and provide atmosphere to the gym. This enable people to easily identify where they can do various activities and enables us to provide a dementia friendly gym by providing contrasting colours that can be used as triggers. Whilst in the Group Cycle Studio the aim of the improvement is to improve the atmosphere in our Group Cycle classes. The Group Cycle lighting is up lit to ensure it does not cause any adverse effects when in use. The colour is fully customisable and is designed to work in conjunction with the existing set up.

We have also purchased some new equipment. Based off of customer feedback we have purchased a 15kg barbell. This will empower customers who were previously unable to use the free weights area due to the limitations around weight to now use the area opening a new avenue of training for many. Our other purchase is that of a Plyobox. Used for plyometric training this was identified as a piece of equipment that was needed to allow a different training modality to take place in the gym. Plyometics are useful for almost every type of person wanting to improve performance. They enable: endurance athletes to build a robust and efficient body and power athletes to increase their rate of force development. The plyobox can also be used by those less mobile as the height is easily changeable enabling them to vary the difficulty

Keep your eyes peeled for more improvements throughout the year
