Health commitment statement

  • You wish to embark on a programme of physical activity and confirm that You do not have any health conditions which may prevent or adversely affect Your participation in the exercise programme and/or induction. If Your health status changes, You will seek guidance and clearance to exercise from Your General Practitioner or other relevant heath professional before participating any further in the physical activity.
  • Your Health is your Responsibility. Exercise carries its own risk, and you should therefore never exercise beyond your ability. If you have any doubts as to your fitness, or you have any medical conditions that may affect your safety through exercise, you should seek advice from your doctor before partaking in the activity.
  • When You are taking part in any physical activity You are responsible for monitoring Your own physical condition throughout Your use of Our facility. In the event of any unusual symptoms occurring, You should inform a member of staff immediately.
  • You must use the equipment and facilities in the correct manner according to instructions and/or induction training; You must not use the equipment and facilities in any manner which constitutes a health and safety risk either to Yourself or to others. We are not responsible for any injury or loss You suffer as a consequence of misuse of any equipment, or of any health condition that You may have (except where Our negligence causes personal injury).

Membership Terms & conditions

  1. Physical activity or exercise is undertaken at your own risk. If you have any concerns about your health, suitability for a chosen activity or your health status changes you should seek guidance from a doctor or relevant health professional before participating.
  2. Always register your attendance by scanning the QR code, barcode or membership card at the centre reception or entrance gates.
  3. There may be additional rules which apply to a particular facility or activity displayed in the Centre which you will also be required to follow.

Employer terms & conditions

By signing up to the scheme you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

• You are an employee of Hackney Council, and are paid through the Council’s payroll

• You have a contract that is expected to last at least 10 months (in order to cover the repayment period)

• You do not have any outstanding debts (such as an overpayment) from the council

• You have considered the impact on your pay, taking account of other loans (such as a Season Ticket Loan) or other schemes you participate in (such as a salary sacrifice scheme)

• The details you have entered in your application are correct and true

• If approved, you agree the loan will be repaid as deductions from your salary for a term of 10 months and repayments will begin from the month after the membership is made available to you (or the next available pay run)

• If you leave the council before the loan is fully repaid, the outstanding balance will be taken from your last pay. Failure to settle the balance before leaving employment of the council will result in your case being referred to debt recovery and possible legal action

• You are responsible for communicating directly with GLL for any matters relating to your membership with them.  This includes for example, a change of address or loss of membership card

• You are agreeing to abide by the Terms and Conditions set by Better Leisure.  If for any reason Better terminate your membership, the loan will be immediately repayable to the Council.

This GLL membership loan is given to employees as a benefit.  Any abuse of this benefit or failure to comply with the conditions of the loan could amount to gross misconduct under the Council’s Employee Code of Conduct.  The Council retains the right to withdraw this offer at any time.
