Joanne Ryan strikes gold for Team Great Britain
In an electrifying display of speed and teamwork, Joanne Ryan sprinted to victory as she clinched a gold medal in the 4x100m relay for Team Great Britain in Italy at the European Masters Athletics Championships.
The remarkable achievement not only highlights Joanne’s exceptional talent on the track but also underscores the unwavering commitment she has shown in balancing her professional responsibilities and athletic pursuits.
Joanne Ryan, known for her warm and welcoming presence as a concierge at Lee Valley VeloPark, has once again demonstrated that with grit and dedication, one can excel in both career and sport. While her days are spent assisting visitors and ensuring their experiences are top notch, her evenings are devoted to gruelling training sessions six times a week at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
Joanna Ryan said: “All of my hard work and training is paying off, and us girls smashed it. I would like to thank everyone who supports me, I could not have achieved this level without my coach Lawrence Lynch and my army of supporters including Paul my fiancée and my amazing mum, dad and family. Also a big thank you to GLL Sports Foundation for supporting me. It’s a wonderful feeling to be a European Champion and be part of the team. I still can’t believe it.”

Over the past 15 years, the GLL Sport Foundation has consistently been at the forefront of developing local young athletic talent, having awarded an impressive total of £14 million in 25,000 awards since 2008.
